Thoughts on why I don’t share her face here.

When a friend of mine had her daughter a few months before mine, I remember finding it interesting that she never put pictures of her little girl online. Being picture obsessed that I am, I thought I’d never be able to do that.

But when Anya was born, I don’t know what happened but it just didn’t feel right putting her face out there. I convinced my husband and our families to adjust their privacy settings so only the closest family and friends were able to view those pictures. We were overjoyed with her existence in our life, her tiny little body full of newborn fuzz, her loud cries and those focused eyes. To us she was beautiful and we didn't need the whole world's approval. In the moment, I don’t think I had enough time to think my thoughts through. I just knew that was what I wanted to do.

It was hard at times, but as time went by, the habit stuck and I got creative with her pictures. I realized that even though our faces are the reflection of our hearts, our stories can be told in many other ways. I want her story to be about more than just her looks. I want her personality to shine through, I want her thoughts and her words to be as important.

Even though I have this urge to write and share through this journey of mine, I want to protect her from the unfathomable types of predators that scroll the internet.  Maybe I am conservative or superstitious and I’m also not sure what the future might bring, or how my ideas might change in the days to come. But for right now, this is what feels right to me and I choose to stay true to that.

There is a fine line when you start to share parts of your life online, of what you share and what you hold back and I am treading that line right now.  At the end of it, blogging and sharing my pictures online is my choice, not hers and I don’t want to take it away from her.

Just wanted to share some feelings on this as I know many of you wonder about it.

On blogging and some plans.

Hello you guys. I am back:). Hope your Ramazan and Eid were amazing and blessed. It is good to be back:)

Recently I have spent a lot of time thinking about blogging and what I want to share here in the months ahead. I am enjoying this journey a lot. I don’t know where it will take me, but I want to continue and see what it brings. Thank you so much for reading and for following along. It is an honor for me that this voice of mine can connect with you and that you take the time to read it. I can't even describe the sweet messages and emails I receive from some of you readers and that keep inspiring me.

I have a confession to make. I need to find a new name for this space as I don’t like it at all:\! It was a completely random one that I choose many many years ago when I started sharing some crafts etc and then when I returned I just thought it was easier to continue here. BUT I think it is time for a new one. If some of you creative people out there read this and have suggestions, I would LOVE to hear them since my mind goes blank every time I sit down to come up with something unique :\

Also in the plan is a blog redesign, something that is simple and pretty and that makes it easier to find ideas and previous posts for the readers. I have just started planning it so there is still sometime before things get finalized. I am after my husband to do it for me but since he is pretty occupied I would love any links on some good web designers that have experience in blog designs.

As far as content is concerned, I am planning to have a regular schedule for posting so you readers know when to expect new posts. As for now, a regular post every Monday, Wednesday and Friday seems doable and one that I will plan to do. I also want to include more guest posts and introduce some amazing people, businesses and their stories. Other than that this will still remain pretty much a lifestyle motherhood blog, that aims to inspire. With bits of decor, mom and baby style, DIY ideas, inspirations and random thoughts :)

Other than that, if you guys have any ideas or suggestions, I would love to hear them :)

Update: I know i said, I'll be posting every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. But after trying and stressing out over it, i realized I cant keep a fixed schedule for right now. Instead, I"ll be posting 2-3 times a week. Thanks so much for following.
